mobile phone domination

Will Smartphones Ever Replace Desktop Computers?

Is mobile consuming the world?

Most of us would never have seen it coming, but the answer to the question is a firm YES.

Global PC sales are plummeting whilst smartphone and tablet sales are increasing steadily.

Let’s uncover the truth behind the mobile industry and its rise to glory.

Check out this super-informative slideshare presentation for the facts on the topic.

I was blown away by the information I read on mobile phone usage and if you haven’t stayed current on the mobile tech industry I think you’ll be blown away too.

Here’s your update in 120 seconds!

Has mobile taken over the world?

Are we slowly replacing desktop computers with our iPhones and Android phones? Is it time to get off our cushy desk chairs and “go completely mobile”?

WAIT! Let me stop you just before you unplug your PC and throw it through the nearest window sending it hurtling down onto the street.”\

Desktop computers have not been ‘completely replaced’. And it doesn’t look like they’re going to be either.

Only aspects of their functions are easier or more productive to use via our mobile devices.

You couldn’t possible imagine a graphic designer working solely from their handhelds. I would be chastised by our designers here in the office for even suggesting such an idea.

Or a copy writer pounding out page after page of sales documents from their iPhone…

But it is true…the world is changing

Today we are much less patient. I know that for a fact because on my brisk 15 minute walk to the office in the morning I’m juggling multiple tasks (something I wasn’t even genetically built to do).

I listen to audio books, send multiple text messages and emails, taking phone calls, all the whilst walking as quickly as I can without spilling my coffee. Can you relate to this?

Productivity is sky-rocketing along with our caffeine intake and app downloads.

Is this something to worry about?

No way! People had the same worries about the wooden-wheel and that turned out pretty well for everyone, didn’t it?

The only difference back then was that there weren’t enough people able to spread scepticism over it via Twitter and Instagram.

Embrace change by becoming a leader in the changing world.

There are plenty of rewards to be reaped from being at the top of the bell curve and as an app developer I see that everyday.

Now I’m interested. What are your thoughts on the changing future?

Have your habits changed since the introduction of the smartphone? Do you do things differently?

Leave your story in the comments section below and I’ll respond to it personally.
